This place is freaking awesome. From the nice service ladies Meghan and Phyllis. To the wonderful hardworking mechanic Mike. They all get the job done 100%. Awesome deals and reliable. This is the place to go!

Been here a few times, for inspection and some repairs of hybrid car. Excellent customer service and trustworthy assessments of needed repairs. Have made this our go-to since moved to SI. If I had known about it earlier, I would have driven in from Brooklyn for any car needs!

Came in for a NYS inspection and was greeted by two smiling faces Megan and Phylis at 8am which we all know is rare in Staten Island. Service was prompt and fast. I was in and out of there in less then a half an hour. Amazed. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back. Thanks.

They always do things the right way here. No shortcuts. They've been taking care of my work truck for years. It's quick service for as busy as they are, and it's always done right the first time. Friendly staff as well. Good people to have in your corner when your vehicle needs a tow, a jump start, or service.

Me? Neurotic about car care and how to play a broken this or that? I'M NEUROTIC NO MORE (at least insofar as wondering where to take my car for repairs, inspections, and TLC): It's ISLAND CAR CAR, realm of a highly articulate crew (guys and dolls) I dig, the ones who make auto maintenance EASY, AFFORDABLE, and something of an interpersonal adventure. THEY'RE GREAT WITH CUSTOMERS and THEY'RE GOOD WITH CARS, TOO! I've been a fan of this place since my first minute on Staten Island, 'lo, almost forty years ago, and how quickly and merrily the time (and my cars) have rolled in, out, and along. xxx from longtime Staten Island resident, Danforth Prince

Just had my entire exhaust replaced at Island Car Care. Dan gave me a great price and he was extremely friendly and professional (so were the rest of the staff too). It was my first time at the shop and I was a bit nervous because I've had bad experiences with other mechanics who assume that I don't know anything because I'm a woman. Dan made me feel comfortable and confident that the work was not only needed but done well by letting me see the old parts and the problem while the car was on the lift, and then taking pictures of the finished job so I could easily see what was done. That's critically important for me. He even partly vindicated the last mechanic by showing me that the work he claimed to do was in fact done. I just wish the last guy had told me the horrible condition of my exhaust so I wouldn't have wasted money on a patch that lasted 1 month. (There were other problems with that guy too...) The parts from Island Call come with a lifetime warranty and he even covers labor for 2 years for AAA members. I do all my own tuneups and minor repairs so I only really need a mechanic for bigger jobs that are beyond my skills, or too much hassle to do, or that require expensive tools that I don't want to buy, etc... When I take the car to a mechanic I want to know that the job is done right and with as much care as I would do it. I'll be bringing my car back to Island Car Care when I need a mechanic in the future. UPDATE: 2/2/2019 I've been meaning to update this review since Christmas. Once again Island Car Care really came through for me. My car broke down on a Sunday night 2 days before Christmas at about 9pm. Luckily AAA said the tow service who was coming to get my car was from Island Car Care! So they towed my car to the shop and were able to fix my car on Christmas Eve in time for me to still make it out to my sister's place in NJ for the holiday and at a very reasonable price. The tow truck driver was extremely friendly and helpful like everyone else I've met there too. Really can't say enough good things about this place. Been extremely happy so far.

Here's the story. I'm an owner of a 1989 Jeep Cherokee Limited now for 19 years, being the third owner with 109,633 miles. The brakes failed on the vehicle on November 7, 2018 on Staten Island. I went to, and believed was my trusted auto mechanic for three years on the Island. They diagnosed the hard braking pedal to the ABS. Being that the car is 30 years old, finding a part would be challenging to say the least. They kept the vehicle for 4 weeks in their gated lot until after a week or so I inquired to progress made. None. I was told to go online and search for the ABS assembly, found a site that said they had the part, ordered it and had it sent direct to the mechanic... After the passage of another week, I inquired and was told it was the wrong part for another vehicle. I sent it back, paid for shipping and received a refund some weeks later. The vehicle was looted in the gated outdoor garage, the battery went dead as the glove compartment door was left open and the light trickle drained the battery. No one at the garage even noticed until I showed up to start the car and inquire to the status of any progress. Nothing. I took the car and decided to try another mechanic that a friend used. That mechanic bleed the brakes and determined it was the brake master cylinder. Now the brakes went soft. Two attempts to get the part failed, sending the wrong component. The mechanic recommended getting rid of the vehicle. I had intentions of donating it, and at this point, that was now the goal... Before doing so, I walked around the neighborhood to give it one last try and found Island Car Care. I explained the situation and what I was going through with the vehicle, and they suggested to bring the Jeep in to them. I did. Megan, Danny, Marcus and the rest of the crew with perserverance and diligence exhausted every lead until they found what was ultimately the problem, which was the brake power booster. The part was found in New Jersey after some two weeks of trying. After the Christmas and New Year Holiday, the Jeep is fixed and I have the red wagon back for a while longer. They were courteous and considerate in my specific case and even worked with me by giving a discount knowing that if all failed, I would pay for their services rendered and give the car up for donation. Island Care Care is appropriately named. They care and go well above and beyond what any mechanic shop that I have ever experienced in the 19 years owning this vehicle. In an age and society where you don't always get what you pay for in quality and personal attention, they treat people like family. They are BBB rated and ASE certified and I can't say enough for the care and servive they've rendered on my behalf. To anyone reading this review, I highly recommend Island Car Care and their AAA service towing and battery service, both of which I've used. I only wish I knew of their auto service and used them sooner. And I will do so as a customer from here on in for the life of my red wagon as long as I own it...
