This place is just truly wonderful ! My car broke down on a Monday and the place that I normally take it to (which I actually don’t really care for) told me they couldn’t take my car until Thursday !! I called island car care bc of the great reviews it already had and I was not disappointed. Danny answered the phone and was very kind. He told me to bring it in that same day. I thought it was a transmission issue but Danny and his guys checked it thoroughly, and it ended up not being a transmission problem which was great for my pockets ! They were honest and knowledgeable. Also what won my heart was that Danny gave my son a toy car and he plays with it every day. I’ll 100% be coming back here for all of my car problems . They are cool and honest people and gave me some pretty nice discounts. There were just a couple small things but other than that this place was perfect. They worked on my car a little bit longer than expected and I had to come back for a quick fix but everything else was great. I’ll definitely be coming here if I need help with anything else.

Finally I've found the right one, the shop that I choose to take care of my cars, one 2002 Land Cruiser that almost cost my life ! I can't compare Danny and his team to any mechanic, even the shop that I kept for 15 years that can't diagnose what's wrong, I thought of just donating this car. before. Amazingly with Island Car Care expertise in maintaining this car for the last eight years I take pride on their performance, this car looking like brand new, running smoothly with all power and speed up to present. Allocating my time is difficult, having to service my 2020 Volvo to a dealer, Island Car Care is so accessible and convenient. It's not easy esp for us woman to build that trust , the pricing should not be the main reason to be negative, the quality of work in the long run benefit us as customers. I'll keep them

I’m so happy I found Danny and his team of expert mechanics! I have been everywhere and as a woman it’s really hard to feel comfortable with finding an honest repair shop. With Danny I felt so much care and I am happy to say the work came out great too. The repairs were fairly priced, great warranty, speedy service and all with a great personal experience. I will certainly be back and I highly recommend Danny and Island Car Care.

The parts cost $700 and the labor at $125 / hour for 5.3 hours and the AAA 10% discount put me at $1,379.50. I have $950 in savings for emergencies. Danny was unwilling to negotiate with me. I had to pay the diagnostic fee of 2.7 hours $367; and get my vehicle towed to my house UNFIXED. The diagnostic fee alone cost me a whole week’s pay-check. The AAA discount was not enough to help me get the car fixed. I do NOT recommend this auto repair shop. I could not afford their labor price. Lesson learned: if you don’t have an existing relationship w/ a mechanic in Staten Island, do not take your car to their business - they will charge you out your nose.

Hi Amy, thank you for leaving us this review. As I told you on the phone. If the fix was $5 it would cost $5, your Lincoln Navigator had a fuel issue which required a $1380 fix. If I could have made it cheaper I would have gladly. That being said, the lesson learned for you should be, don’t bring your car to any repair shop until you can afford to fix it. I don’t know of any place that works for free, or gives 42% discount (since I already gave you 10% for being a AAA member).

(PT2) Initially, when I walked in, I asked for pricing regarding an inspection which you informed me that was $37. Nobody came with a demanding attitude about anything. I have no such mindset with expecting free services from any business. I don’t know where you’re coming up with these false assumptions. That would contradict my initial question which was “How much would an inspection be?” with no attitude whatsoever might I add. Your response alone proves everything I’ve said and your poor character. Nobody magically came up with a card payment, you must’ve forgotten I had someone with me who was kind enough to pay using her card. Just confident, loud, and wrong in every aspect. Once I mentioned that I had a mechanic of my own and didn’t prefer your services, is when you’re whole demeanor and tone switched up and I respectfully addressed you about it. You claimed didn’t have an attitude when it was clear as day that you had a nasty one. Your money hungry mindset will get you nowhere quickly. You don’t know anyones financial situation to be commenting on it period. That alone proves your lack of professionalism and outright disrespect. The problem was never about paying for the services. Had I known that you’d add extra fees without my consent; I would’ve been more prepared and bought the necessary amount of funds. Learn to take accountability.

IF I COULD PUT NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD. My recent visit to Island Car Care was nothing short of a nightmare, characterized by abysmal customer service, a complete lack of professionalism, and outright offensive behavior. From the moment I walked in, the staff exhibited a horrible attitude, displaying arrogance and disdain towards customers. Their communication was appalling, with minimal effort made to explain the issues with my car or provide updates on the progress of the repairs in a respectful manner. What truly shocked me was the unnecessary sarcasm and condescension from the technician. Instead of addressing my concerns respectfully, they resorted to belittling remarks and sarcasm, making me feel like I was being mocked. To make matters worse, Island Car Care went ahead and performed services that I explicitly did not ask for, adding unnecessary charges to my bill without my consent. Nonetheless had the audacity to undermine me when I expressed the concern. (It’s just 12 dollars more) is not how you respond to a customer especially when you don’t know what someone can and cannot afford. This blatant disregard for customer preferences is unacceptable and reflects their lack of integrity. The most disturbing part of my experience was the use of racial slurs(these people) and discussing his frustrations about us to the employees. It is utterly reprehensible that Island Auto Care tolerates such hateful language in their workplace, creating a hostile environment for customers as myself of diverse backgrounds. In summary, my experience at Island Car Care was an absolute disaster. Their abhorrent customer service, disrespectful attitude, lack of professionalism, poor communication, unwanted added services, and use of racial slurs are completely disgusting. I urge others to steer clear of this establishment and seek auto repair services elsewhere.

Hi Destiny, thank you for the review. I understand that you were not happy, however, I WILL NOT work for free for people that walk in with a demanding attitude. I understand that you feel like I should work for free and pass the car even though it had 5 items on the NYS safety list that were damaged... front end damage, tires that are slick, lights that are out, but I will not. I will not sacrifice good work and being honest for what you might be use to elsewhere. Please do not come back as we do not need customers that walk in with your negativity and also with the "everything should be free" mindset. I do not behave the way you did when I walk into any business. For those who have read until here, than you... so you know the "extra" she is talking about is $12.50 for finding out an issue her car had for why it was not communicating with the DMV computer. We found the issue and we fixed it without her consent. First she said she didnt have the money, then she didnt have a credit card, and then after a few minutes she magically had both. I will not be belittled by people who do not respect our profession and care to do things right.
